This was the first time to the Outer Banks, and it was perfect. The house was in a fantastic location. We couldn't have asked for more. Laura at Corova Cottages was so attentive, and sweet!
She was available whenever I had a question, and made me feel so welcomed. Everything was clean, and tidy. The views were amazing. Wild Spanish horses all around the house almost every day. Everyone was so friendly.
My husband and I hope rlto be back sooner than later.

The only thing I would recommend would be a roll of toilet paper for each of bathrooms. First time I’ve stayed anywhere that there wasn’t toilet paper. Everything else was great. The Fully stocked kitchen was great.

Overall, a great experience. House was clean and orderly and property manager was fantastic to communicate with.

The Weathervane was the perfect size for our family of six and two pups. We love to cook so I really appreciated that the kitchen was fully stocked with every utensil and appliance you could possibly need (no Keurig, but there is a standard coffeemaker). The screened in deck area catches the breeze in the morning and evening and is almost always shady, great for coffee in the morning and dinner at night. There is a group of horses that hangs out in this neighborhood and they were in the yard and in the slightly wooded lot next door every morning. This house is a cozy little gem and we will be back. Don't hesitate to book it. I enjoyed working with Laura and David at Carova Cottages at well. They were professional and very helpful.

Everything was so nice and clean upon arrival. The home was nicely decorated and really comfortable. We all really enjoyed our stay!

Great house, perfect location, wonderful week!

This was our third time staying at the Weathervane, and it was another fantastic trip. The home has all you need to unplug, relax, and enjoy your time in this beautiful area. We saw horses around the property every day, and across the street nibbling grass on the dunes with the ocean waves and blue sky in the background. We had a gorgeous full moon during our stay, and watching it rise over the ocean with red to orange coloring was magical. The sunrises with the orange, pink, and purple variations weren't too shabby either. Great stay!!!

After 32 years of coming to the Outerbanks - we started in Duck moved up to Corolla and finally the last few years in Pine Island - we wanted to experience Carova and the 4x4 experience

I would say the only 'getting use to' part was all the vehicles and having to watch the traffic at times

Had a great family vacation. Was a little bit of a drive up the beach from the end of the paved road but it is well worth it. The house has a nice layout and fit our needs very well. Recommend.

The fact that I am reviewing this home for the third time in three seasons should say a lot. This is a newer home and very well kept in a great location. There's horses around almost daily. Carova Cottages is very easy to deal with. We've been coming for almost ten years and this is the first house we've stayed at more than once.

We had an amazing experience staying at the Weathervane. The house is well appointed. We cooked most evenings and the kitchen had everything we needed. We saw horses around the house almost every day. Having a little one with us it was nice to be able to put everything we needed in the car and drive over to the beach. The only concern I had was having a little one and cars driving on the beach. I felt like i had to always be on gaurd but for the most part everyone seemed cautious as they drove. Overall it was a great vacation!!!this was our daughters first trip to the beach. She loved it so we will likely be back!

We stayed at The Weathervane in September 2020 and loved the home and area so much we booked again for May 2021. The home is near two drive-outs to the beach and has a great view of the ocean from all the decks. The home is very comfortable, with all the cookware, dishes, and utensils you need to enjoy a week "up the beach away from town". Great place to relax, unwind, and watch/listen to the ocean, waves breaking, breeze blowing, and see the local wildlife.

We spent a week at The Weathervane looking for a place to recharge and reconnect. The house proved to be the perfect location for exactly that. Being in the 4x4 area automatically reduced the hustle and bustle, giving a great feeling of escape. Also, the house seemed to have the right amenities for a low key beach retreat. We found that having ample outdoor deck space, beautiful views, a scrabble board, and a great kitchen for cooking outweighed the limited TV channels, temporary construction next door, and the short walk to the beach. One of our favorite things, that is unique to this house, was the outdoor telescope on the top deck. It is one thing to see a ship or dolphin on the horizon, but it’s another thing to view it close up through such a fun amenity. This is definitely something fun that only the Weathervane seems to offer and everyone will just love. This house was also in the perfect location for viewing wild horses! On the days we did want to venture back to the paved roads, the drive was not too far (although not always fun if you aren’t used to driving in the sand). However, those drives were limited as we found very few reasons to leave The Weathervane. A few additional details to note: you can see and hear the ocean from this house, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook, dogs will drink the water but I recommend bringing bottled for people, the recycling center is just a few blocks away, there are 2 nearby beach access roads, and this house requires the use of stairs (we lovingly carried an older dog up and down them all week). To top it all off, Laura was so easy to work with. She answered all of our questions and really made booking and traveling to the house so simple. Emails and signage in the house were clear, everything was as pictured, and the whole process was just such a cinch. I can easily recommend The Weathervane, and actually already have!

The Weathervane is a beautiful, well maintained and a very clean house. It offered everything one needs for a weeks vacation. The house is perfectly situated for an amazing view of the sunrise and the moon over the ocean at night. The horses stroll through many times during the day and night. You can never grow tired of watching them. It's a perfect house for a couple or small family.
The management company is great too. Laura is very easy to work with and was very quick with her responses with any questions I had. Overall it was a great experience, great house and looking forward to next year!

Our week in Carova was wonderful. The house was very well maintained and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the ocean. We had plenty of space for our family of four. The screened in porch was well used for our meals and horse-watching in the morning. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals. The property manager was a life-saver. When we had an issue with our Jeep on the morning of check out, she came to the house and helped us. She also gave excellent directions on how to navigate driving on the beach. I would absolutely rent here again.

We stayed at Weathervane two years in a row now and we love this house, it's location and the service from Carova Cottages. To be honest, the house was just as it was last year (minus the couple of wasps that tried to build a nest), well kept and clean. We can't wait to return!

The booking process was fantastic and the customer support we received from Laura on our endless questions was by far the beat I’ve had when booking in the OBX. The house is incredibly well appointed with a spectacular view of the ocean. We saw so much wildlife, dolphins, crabs, and of course the wild horses. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We loved our stay and Carova. We really didn’t know what to expect about the access on the beach, but after arriving and figuring everything out it was pretty simple. It is definitely on of the most relaxing and family orientated trips we have ever had. We didn’t wear shoes for days, we were constantly walking in sand.

The Weathervane is such a beautiful home, great location and great views. This was 6th trip to the 4x4 and one of the nicest, well kept homes we've stayed in. Perfect size for our family of four and our lab Sid. The screened porch was great in the evening or morning for coffee. Laura with Carova Cottages responded quickly to all inquiries prior to our stay. We had one small issue once we arrived where some wasps started to build a nest and she promptly brought over spray. She was going to spray but I wanted to do it at night while they were on the nest to make sure they would not come back. We can't wait to return!

It's an easy walk to the beach (just minutes), and we viewed horses daily. We loved being able to take our 2 labs, too. The open deck, screened porch, and telescope were bonuses. The owner has thought of everything- labeling light switches, an emergency kit, great pots and pans, surveillance cameras outside for safety, etc. We truly felt at home! Laura and the owner were kind to us. We highly recommend this cozy and clean home to small families/couples!

House was great, having to leave not so much. Offering the guests an optional Travel Insurance for a mandatory Hurricane Evacuation would be a great thing to add on. Not sure if you offered this at time of my booking the house or not.

Second year in a row dealing with tropical storm conditions on my vacation in Carova but I'll have to say the homes and assistance from Laura have been exceptional . The Weathervane is perfect for a small family or couple. From the comfort of the beds to the great location, you quickly feel at home soon after you arrive. Immaculate home, I highly recommend!

The Weathervane was the 5th house we have stayed in in OBX and it was the BEST! The house was clean and had all the conveniences needed. The Memory Foam beds provided the BEST nights sleep ever (I want to get one at home now).
The views of the ocean from the house and deck were amazing.
The layout of the house was perfect for our family and we highly recommend The Weathervane to all!
OBX is the best place to vacation and this house was perfect!

This Rental is in an ideal location with a great view of the Atlantic Ocean. Property is well kept. Very Clean new rental. Lots of room, TV is every bedroom. Beach is stunning. Wild Horses all over the beach, horses in the yard of the house. This place is an amazing getaway.

The Weathervane cottage was ideal for the both of us and our two small Chihuahua dogs. Sure enjoyed the fantastic ocean views, and loved to watch the horses. It was great to relax with the sounds of the ocean. We enjoyed walking the sand dune roads as well as the beach. It was also great to be able to park on the beach and fish. The house was in a great location and driving off road to get there was an experience in itself. The house was in excellent shape, new and very clean!!! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay very much. In fact it was hard to leave. Laura, the Property Manager was very helpful during the rental process, very nice and readily available after we got there for any questions or concerns we had. Of all our vacations to the Outer Banks this was difinitely our best!! We would recommend the Weathervane to anyone and can't wait to come back.
